Steve Hatchett & Gilda
Deputy Fire Marshal Steven Hatchett is a Bomb Technician with the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office. His K-9 partner, Gilda, is a five-year-old, ATF trained, black Labrador.
K-9 Gilda has been in service as an explosive detection K-9 since July 2000.
Deputy Hatchett and K-9 Gilda were at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
They were at the Olympics as part of the law enforcement teams assigned to this event.K-9 Gilda is Deputy Hatchett's second K-9 partner. His first partner was Misty. Misty was crossed trained in both accelerant and explosive detection. Misty developed cancer and had to be put down in May of 2000 after eight years of dedicated service.
Deputy Hatchett has been in law enforcement for over 20 years. His first seven years were as a Baltimore City Police Officer. His is a Bomb Technician, Certified Fire Investigator, and a member of the ATF National Response Team.
